DIE IDEE (HOCHDEUTSCH)
Hanse verbindet: Bereits Jahrhunderte vor Einrichtung der EU wurde der verbindende Europäische Gedanke auf besondere Weise im Ost- und Nordseeraum gelebt. Der Hansebund mit seinen zahlreichen Niederlassungen hatte großen Einfluss auf den Handel des späten Mittelalters. Die Handelssprache war Mittelniederdeutsch. Von Lübeck ausgehend hat das Plattdeutsche über Jahrhunderte auf die Sprachen der Länder im Nord- und Ostseeraum bis hin nach Russland gewirkt. Noch immer sind diese Einflüsse deutlich erkennbar. Zahlreiche sprachwissenschaftliche Arbeiten belegen die Einflüsse und den hohen Stellenwert der Sprache. Ebenfalls ist die Hansezeit Forschungsgegenstand von Historikern, die wiederum den Aspekt der Sprache, ihren Einfluss und damit ihren Stellenwert weniger in den Fokus ihrer Forschung stellen. Das Länderzentrum für Niederdeutsch möchte diesen Erkenntnisreichtum aus den verschiedenen Disziplinen aufgreifen, miteinander verknüpfen und für Jedermann erlebbar machen. Auf diese Weise betont das Projekt das kulturelle Erbe der Hansezeit mit dem Fokus auf die niederdeutsche Sprache und schlägt eine Brücke in die Gegenwart.
Dass Niederdeutsch die Handelssprache zur Hansezeit war, wie sie wirkte und wo sie heute noch zu finden ist, ist kaum bekannt oder prominent sichtbar. Das LzN möchte an dieser Stelle initiativ werden und mit dem Projekt „Hanserouten.de“ einen besonderen Beitrag zum Spracherhalt und somit deren Förderung leisten, um das Niederdeutsche in der Fläche und auch als ganzheitliches und ökologisch nachhaltiges Erlebnis hervorzuheben und präsent zu machen: „För mehr Platt op´t Land un in de Stadt!“ – Die Hanse verbindet heute noch.
THE IDEA (ENGLISH)
For centuries before the establishment of the EU, the unifying European idea was lived in a special way in the Baltic and North Sea regions. The Hanseatic League with its numerous branches had a great influence on trade in the Middle Ages. The language of trade was Middle Low German. Starting in Lübeck, Low German influenced the languages of the countries in the North Sea and Baltic Sea regions all the way to Russia for centuries. These influences are still clearly recognizable. Numerous linguistic works prove the influences and the high status of the language. Equally, the Hanseatic period is the subject of research by historians, who in turn put the aspect of the language, its influence and thus its status less in the focus of their research. The Country Center for Low German would like to take up this wealth of knowledge from the various disciplines, link them together and make them tangible for everyone. In this way, the project emphasizes the cultural heritage of the Hanseatic era with a focus on the Low German language and builds a bridge to the present.
With this, we welcome you with a northern German „Moin Moin“ and invite you to browse „Hanserouten.de“, on which various routes with a strong Hanseatic reference are illustrated. You can now experience them online. Also, this offer invites you to travel the places ecologically sustainable. Discover the routes by bike, on foot or by public transport or both of it. The main language is Low German – as in the Hanseatic era, with High German and English translations, or summaries. Experience a linguistic-historical arc and discover the similarities of the former trading language Low German and today’s trading language English.
The itineraries are aimed at groups and individual travelers, families on an excursion and school classes and all those interested in the Low German language. This makes the offer a cross-generational experience. Through the translations into High German and English, the routes can become a language and cultural experience for all.
That Low German was the language of trade and commerce at the time of the Hanseatic League, how it worked and where it can still be found today, is hardly known or prominently visible. The Country Center for Low German would like to take the initiative at this point and with the project „Hanserouten.de“ make a special contribution to language preservation and thus their promotion, to highlight and make present the Low German in the area and also as a holistic and ecologically sustainable experience: „För mehr Platt op’t Land un in de Stadt!“ – „For more Low German in the countryside and in the city“.
